Author Melissa Foster is a rising star! Soon her name will be mentioned in the same breath as all the other talented and prolific women authors of our day. An inspiration, she has done it again. Chasing Amanda, her second novel, hooked me right from the start. I didn’t want this book to end.
The characters were more than just descriptions on a page. They jumped out and pulled me, willingly, hungrily, into their lives. I resisted putting this book down, night after night. I not only wanted to find out what would happen next—I needed to. Thank you, Melissa, for inducing so many late nights and tired mornings in search of coffee! Starbucks thanks you as well.
A parent’s worst nightmare—the disappearance of their child—leads Molly Tanner into a spinning web of intricate secrets kept by the people in this otherwise quiet town. Having lived, thankfully very briefly, through the feelings one gets when told their child is missing, I was drawn into the emotional story of the people of this town—most especially, Molly Tanner. She must fight against her husband’s resistance, the resistance of the townspeople to talk about the past and her own personal demons. I spent night after night fully engaged in this story, trying to figure out the complex interactions and connections.
Her relationship with her husband and son were genuine and the emotions were raw and authentic. Chasing Amanda is frightening and heart-warming, sad and inspirational. I loved every minute of it. I am so thrilled to have found this author at the start of her burgeoning career. It is going to be a real pleasure watching her writing get better with each subsequent book.
This was a well-written and suspenseful story that you won’t regret reading—at any price!
